What Sets You And Your Firm Apart In Handling A Bankruptcy Matter?

I have a Ph.D. in mathematics and used to be a professor of mathematics, so I have had very good training in logical thought. Since bankruptcy tends to be quantitative, I can do the required analysis very easily. This helps in getting a plan confirmed because I can lay out the numbers before the Judge and the creditors in a way that makes sense to them.

I’ve been practicing law for 20 years, and am a board certified specialist in bankruptcy law, certified by the California State Bar’s Board Of Legal Certification. This means that I have completed a difficult certification process that includes an exam that many people don’t pass. I know this because I helped create the exam when I was a commissioner on the California State Bar Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission. The exams are designed to be challenging so that the public has a reason to be confident in the skills of a board certified specialist.

Although there are over 300,000 licensed attorneys in the state of California, only about 200 are board certified specialists in bankruptcy law. It’s a hard process.

I meet with my clients personally; I don’t shunt clients to paralegals or shake their hand once and send them along — which, unfortunately, is the practice of many bankruptcy attorneys. After meeting with a client that’s a business owner, I will go to their place of business to get a feel for it and its creditors, and begin intelligently crafting a plan and disclosure statement.

I make it a point to be available to my clients as much as possible, and respond to them within 24 hours, if not much sooner. Many attorneys receive complaints through the California State Bar for failing to return phone calls and emails from clients, but I ensure that my clients don’t have this experience by giving them absolute access to my time. And when I am working with a client, I will never let someone else interrupt me; each and every client can expect highly professional and personalized service.
